Data-Only eSIM for Travel
Most travel eSIMs are data-only — no new phone number, just mobile internet. That is enough for maps, messaging apps, email, and browser calling through PayCall.
How data-only eSIM works
You install a second mobile plan on your phone that provides internet only. Your existing SIM keeps your phone number for calls and SMS (where supported).
Apps like WhatsApp, iMessage (over data), Google Maps, Uber, and PayCall all work over the eSIM data connection.
Dual-SIM settings to check
- Set eSIM as default line for Mobile Data
- Turn off Data Roaming on your home SIM
- Label lines clearly (e.g. Home / Travel)
- Enable WiFi calling on home SIM if you need inbound calls
PayCall + data-only eSIM
PayCall browser calling works on any internet connection — hotel WiFi or your travel eSIM data. Ideal when you need to reach a customer service number your regular phone cannot dial.
