How to call the USA from Mexico
Can you call a U.S. toll-free number from Mexico? Often not from a Mexican mobile. Dial +1 and ten digits, or call U.S. 800 lines from your browser at $0.09/min on hold.

From a mobile in Mexico, use +1 followed by the ten-digit U.S. number. For conventional landline dialing, use 00 + 1 + the ten digits. First check whether your Mexican plan includes U.S. calls; a browser service is an alternative when the destination is unsupported or you only have internet.

U.S. dialing format from Mexico
The archived IFT dialing guide shows 00 + 1 + the U.S. number for a Mexican landline. On a mobile or in PayCall, use the international +1 format followed by ten digits. Do not add Mexico's +52 country code to a U.S. destination.
| Calling method | Use this format |
|---|---|
| Mobile in Mexico | +1 + three-digit area code + seven-digit number |
| Conventional Mexican landline | 00 + 1 + ten-digit U.S. number |
| PayCall over internet | +1 + ten-digit U.S. number |

Check your Mexican phone plan first
If your plan includes calls to the U.S. number you need, use it when it works. Confirm the destination and conditions with your provider: ordinary U.S. numbers, toll-free numbers and roaming can be treated differently. PayCall is not necessarily cheaper than an included call.
Can you call a U.S. toll-free number from Mexico?
Often not from a Mexican phone. U.S. 800, 888, 877 and similar numbers are set up for callers in the U.S., and many fail or are charged as international calls from Mexico. Wells Fargo, for example, warns that Telcel mobiles block international toll-free calls and lists a Mexico-specific access number instead.
Keep the original U.S. toll-free prefix and use the complete +1 number; a Mexican 800 number is not the same as a U.S. 800 number. If the line fails, check the company's international number, or call the U.S. 800 line from your browser with PayCall: the call is placed from the U.S. network, starts at $0.09/min while you wait on hold, and a call that didn't help can be refunded within 24 hours, whatever the reason.
For banks, confirm the department and whether you need your U.S. account's contact. A similarly named bank or local subsidiary may not handle that account.

How to call from your browser
Use a stable internet connection, a microphone and a supported U.S. or Canadian destination. No U.S. SIM or app download is needed. Emergency, premium and special-service numbers are excluded; connection to a particular hotline is not guaranteed.
- 1Confirm the number on the company's official website, app or your card.
- 2Enter +1 followed by the ten-digit number in PayCall. Check the displayed rate.
- 3Sign in, add prepaid credits and allow microphone access.
- 4Use the on-screen keypad for automated menus. The call starts in Hold for me with your microphone off; listen and turn it on when a person answers.
What a browser call costs
Calls start in Hold for me with your microphone off at $0.09/min, keypad menus included. With your microphone on, PayCall costs $0.39/min. Billed per second. No subscription. Internet or data-roaming charges may apply separately.
For example, 20 minutes in Hold for me plus 10 minutes speaking costs $5.70. A U.S. toll-free destination is not a free PayCall call.
Unanswered calls are free. If a call fails for a technical reason on our side, email support and we'll review it. PayCall is an independent calling service, not the company you are contacting.
English or Spanish support?
Choose Spanish in the hotline menu if it is offered, or ask the agent. A Spanish PayCall page does not guarantee that the receiving business has Spanish-speaking staff. Check the department's published hours and time zone; Mexico and the U.S. each span multiple zones.
