U.S. toll-free numbers (1-800, 1-888, 1-877, 1-866, 1-855, 1-844) are designed for callers inside the United States. From abroad, they frequently fail silently or return a busy signal.
Why 1-800 numbers do not work from Europe
Toll-free routing is country-specific. A German mobile network has no obligation to connect you to the U.S. toll-free gateway. The same applies from France, Spain, the UK, and most other countries.
