Is the Day Pass worth it?

Yes, if you use your phone all day — maps, messaging, data and calls. No, if you'd only turn it on to call a U.S. hotline: one call costs $12 with the pass, and if you forget the pass, every minute on hold costs $4.00/min.

Calls to 1-800 numbers on hold are the classic trap: you pay full roaming for the music.

Call your U.S. bank from abroad without the Day Pass

  3. 3Call the number from the back of your card — toll-free numbers work.
  4. 4The call starts in Hold for me at $0.09/min; turn your microphone on when a person answers.
