Choose the right CRA number

Use the official directory to confirm that individual income tax is the right department. The CRA lists +1 613-940-8495 as an outside-Canada/U.S. collect-call option. Collect calls require a telephone operator; PayCall does not place collect calls.

From a browser, use the supported domestic individual-enquiries number with Canada selected. A Canadian caller ID does not change your tax residency, prove your identity or guarantee that a queue will accept the call.

Opening hours and automated service

Check the CRA’s published hours and time zone on the day you call. The agency may direct calls to an automated service when representatives are unavailable or queues are full. Connecting to a menu does not mean an agent is available.

Have your CRA account and relevant tax documents ready for the agency’s identity checks. Use official online services when they can resolve your issue. PayCall is an independent calling service and does not give tax advice or handle CRA authentication.

How to call from your browser

Prices, currency and limits

Calls start in Hold for me at $0.09 USD/min with your microphone off, keypad menus included. With your microphone on, the call costs $0.39 USD/min. Calls are billed per second and there is no subscription. A toll-free destination is still a paid call through PayCall; prices are in U.S. dollars, not Canadian dollars.

Hold for me works with menus in any language: you listen yourself and turn your microphone on to speak. Hotline routing and opening hours can affect whether you reach an agent. Area code 867, premium, emergency and special services are excluded. PayCall does not provide incoming calls, SMS, verification codes or operator-assisted collect calls.

Frequently asked questions

Does PayCall guarantee I will reach a CRA agent?

No. CRA opening hours, queue capacity and routing determine access. Connected menus are billed; unanswered calls are free. If a call didn't help, you can refund it in your account within 24 hours, whatever the reason, up to $3 per call.

Can PayCall call CRA collect?

No. Use an operator-supported phone service for the CRA’s published collect-call option. PayCall places ordinary paid outgoing calls.

Can I add credits during a call?

Yes. Tap “Add credits without hanging up” on the call screen and pay with card, Apple Pay or Google Pay right there. The call keeps running, and the new balance extends it. Useful when a hotline keeps you on hold longer than expected.
